Mums HK diary #4. Monday 6th October 2008

It is hard to adapt to the time difference of 7 hours between Scotland and HK. After catching up on sleep and a light breakfast we walked to Sai Kung along the waterfront. All the restaurants have live fish and shellfish swimming in tanks waiting to die. The fish is very fresh although I feel a little sad for them. We went to the Duke of York pub for a drink. Ricky had a lager and I like the cranberry juice. The barmaid was very friendly and we got talking. She told us her ex husband was from Edinburgh and her ex mother in law from Uphall. What a small world it is! They also have a nice pool table, and here it is free to use the pool table. Ricky was just stunned, what a lot of money they throw out of the window by doing so. A bit later we found ourselves back at the harbour tucking into a wonderful 6 course sea food meal complete with herbal tea and fresh fruit. We talked about it for days!! Ricky was in the mood for fishing so we went to investigate the price of local fishing rods. I put my daughter’s brolly on the end of the fishing hook drawers as Ricky browsed and after buying a small rod and hooks we headed for the Wellcome supermarket. Half way there I realized I’d forgotten the brolly and so we had to go back and get it..Duuh! The supermarket floor was shaking and I panicked a bit……an earthquake? I thought. But no it was only the car park underneath vibrating the floor. Off home in a taxi and turned into the drive at the same time as Jørgen and Bob arrived home from school. Bob invited us around later for drinks but we agreed to go for a meal at Sauce together instead. Bob and Yvonne arrived with Pfoten and we all enjoyed a chat (a sniff) and a meal as well as a few drinks. The weather stayed dry and pleasant and it made the day great and enjoyable.
