One day in Central is like a year in any other place

21st of December -Julia wants a shopping list!

10 years ago I lived
in Cuenca in Spain for 6 Months as an exchange student. A friend of mine -he came from Barcelona- once said: "I hate to live in a big city because when I have to go to some office somewhere to do just one thing, it will take me the whole day!" I didn't really understand what he meant. I had lived in Århus in Denmark, and all though it is the second largest city, I could easily go to some office, do the stuff and return home or whatever in 2 hours. But now I really understand what he was saying.

Weather
As usually up at 6 am, made coffee and breakfast and Catriona left for work at 7:30 am. I went to the beach for the morning photo, the sun was breaking through the clouds and it was a bit warmer than the resent few days had been. On the way back to our house I unwillingly disturbed one of the many village dogs, sleeping on the sidewalk.I had three things to do today in three different places of Hong Kong, but I was relaxes because I thought I had figured out how to manage in time.
1. I had to go to Central on Hong Kong Island to reissue an airplane ticket at the office of Hong Kong airlines, I had to be there before they made their lunch break at 1pm.
2. I had to go to the school to fill out some forms regarding my freelance work there last week.
3. I had to meet up with Bob to go out and buy a heater and a dehumidifier for the next couple of months.

I knew how to get to Hong Kong Island but had to find
the address of the airline in Central, so I searched it on google maps, printed it out as a map, collected the stuff I needed there and later, took a shower and 10:15 am I left the house to take the 299 bus to Ma On Shan, change there to bus number 681 which goes direct to Central, and so I thought I could be at the airline office at about 11:30 am, get the ticket reissued before their lunch break, and then go back with the 681 bus and be at the school office at about 2 pm to sort it out there before everybody left for Christmas.
The sun had come out and it was a nice warm December day again so I enjoyed standing there, waiting for the bus in Tai Wan Village.
The trip to Ma On Shan is very beautiful and follows the seashore around the Ma On Shan mountain. From there it goes through the satellite cities of Sha Tin , through the Lions Rock tunnel to Kowloon. Here it goes along the former so famous Kai Tak airport and through the east harbor tunnel and then on Hong Kong Island from North Point along Victoria Harbor past Causeway Bay and Wan Chai to Central district which is one of the most crowded, yet fancy and fashionable parts of Hong Kong, mainly here all the big banks and multinational companies build their skyscrapers which is a part of Hong Kongs famous Skyline. From Causeway Bay you can see Victoria Harbor with Tsim Sha Tsui on Kowloon peninsular to the right and Central District with Victoria peak behind on the right.

I had to find Queens Road west no: 9, my print from Google map said. I Know Queens Road central, so i just had to follow it till it became Queens Road west and find no: 9, reissue thhe ticket and go back. I got of the bus and started my walk along the very busy Queens Road central. After half an hour it became Queens Road west and i went into no: 9. But this didn't look like an address for an airline, and the concierge just looked at me and told me many Chinese expressions before she gave my paper with the address to a younger man. "Oh" He just said: "You are wrong, you go Queens Road CENTRAL no: 9, not WEST -must go back, but far away -take MTR to Central". It was already 12:30 pm, in half an hour the office would close for lunch till 2 pm where I should be back in the School in Ma On Shan.
I rushed out and back where I came from, found the MTR, got out at Central, just where i got of the bus 45 minutes ago, I went in the other direction and after 5 minutes I was standing outside no: 9 Queens Road central. The time was 12:50 pm. I got up on the 27th floor and into the office where two young girls sat behind their desks talking to a customer. I told them my problem and one of them took of into the room behind them. She came back and started some work at the computer. Short after people started leaving the room behind them for lunch and after a while there was only me and one of the girls sitting there. "Øhh - and what now, should I go out and come back at 2?" I asked quietly. She looked at me and nodded.
So I went out into the crowd again and met some wannabe Santas.

At 4 pm I came back to Ma On Shan. 5 hours after I left to get 1 thing sorted, and then i suddenly remembered my friend from Barcelona and what he said about living in a big city.
So now I am really tired and I'm sorry, but I have to quit the quiz today.
Remember that time is on our side; yes it is, so here ix todays Traktoor;
He is from my own collection and sits in our staircase with all his friends.

God week end og Glædelig jul.
