Football will save the Earth.

I wonder how many will believe that this is serious. But imagine if it was?

Christmas dinner on the 7th.

Has been for some years now, the tradition or the ritual to go to the Swiss Chalet for a Christmas dinner with some friends. It started years ago when we went with The Cleator's, but they have left and we had to find new friends to share a pre Christmas dinner with. They arrived in the summer of 2012 so in the last two years we have been sharing with the Summerton's.

Sure they have been on these sites previously, and the funny thing is that it is kind of always related to dining and food.

The Swiss Chalet is to be found in Tsim Sha Tsui and as the name reveals, it is a Swiss restaurant serving good quality rustic Swiss food.

It was a nice cozy evening where the feeling inside is warm and the mind thinks it is freezing outside, which of orse it isn't.

Before we got here it was another trip to the markets for some gift shopping.

What ever happens afterwards?

Good quote!

The man who views the world at 50 the same as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life. - Muhammad Ali

True.

In respect of Nelson Mandela.

Nelson Mandela die down the 6th of December. Respect for that man and what he did to end a society based on idiocy and bigotry. The Apartheid system. I remember it well in the late 1980's as a student in the town of Århus in Denmark.
Once I was living in a collective with an Australian layer, who did some work in Denmark for the ANC, and he went to Angola to some conference and when he came back, he proudly showed a picture of himself with Bishop Desmund Tutu, who at that time still was the person who symbolized the fight against the apartheid regime in South Africa.

Hong Kong Christmas decor

Let's start a new series; Christmas decorations.
In a place like Hong Kong where it never snows, it can be hard to obtain that certain Christmas feeling one automatically gets when it is freezing and dark outside, and the only light is from the myriads of silly Christmas displays spread around towns, markets and shops.
Here I will try to capture some of the Hong Kong efforts out in the art of Christmas decor.Sunshine Plaza, Ma On Shan.

On the go blogging.

Normally when blogging I am sitting down in my home or at a cafe, a restaurant or hotel. But now I am on a bus. Let us see if it works.

Heading for midweek.

Early morning from our balcony due south. The day is approaching with from the east, bringing yet another stunning day upon us. There is not so much more to it. The rest is mainly work. And the evenings used for relaxing and sometimes more work. It is in the times and so much of our work is digitally, so it never stops, not even at home as you are still able to continue working.

Good thing is that I also find time to do leisure stuff on my digital devices. Well it is good for me.

December 1. 2013.

If the weather stays like this, I am not sorry that we are having a stay-cation this Christmas. How can it be better than this.

Warm, not hot and humid, clear sky and low pollution. Awesome. Am in the house but at the same time outside coz I can have the big doors to the balcony open, and can enjoy the view and the warmth of the sun. To make the Sunday even perfecter, if that's a word, I have made a fresh pot of Chinese tea and are about to head out for a big walk in the country park.

WifeX is at a workshop at the "Gold Coast" of Hong kong, so I am on my own. Yesterday was kind of a Christmas shopping day for me. It all started at our own school where the yearly Christmas fair was on. Later I took my time going through some of the frenzy busy Mong Kok markets on a hunt for some small and bigger presents.

These markets can be exhausting, but they are also very entertaining and going through them is like a journey into mankinds urge to get cheap stuff, you do not really need, even cheaper. If you do not have time, it is a hazzle and frustrating as you can't really get anywhere fast coz of the crowds, but if you do have time and are patient, you can have a good couple of hours and can find good bargains. I enjoy going there and find stuff for presents and then just observe life going on.

If you think I am going to tell what all got into my backpack, you are going to be disappointed, as I am not. However one thing I can give away here is that it was very heavy and the amount of money in my pocket got decimated.

Happy first Sunday in advent.

The last Friday before December.

On Sunday it is the first Sunday in advent. Means another year has gone past just like that. 2013 becomes 2014 in about one month. Can't say that I am sad about that. 2013 has not been a special good year for me health wise and I only hope it has something to do with the number 13 and that it will improve from 2014.

My day today was a nice and relaxing one. Still on sick leave from falling ill on Tuesday, I have spent this beautiful Friday at home, with the balcony doors wide open upon the sunny November day and the hills around and sea in front our little village. Yellow Bamboo Bay is the English translation, Wong Chuk wan the original Cantonese name.

It is a little chilly, but in the sun it is doable and quite nice and warm. The next days are going to be like this, so we cannot complain about the weather. Tomorrow is yet another Christmas fair at our school, which again is another indicator that the year is fading to an end.

Today's view from our roof-top! I know. It is nice!

Room With a View. Vol.5.

This has started to be a little series, haven't it? However where the other rooms with views were intentional, this last one was not, defiantly not.

This week Wednesday I was supposed to go on a trip to China with year 6 classes, but what happened on Tuesday afternoon?

I fell sick in an art class and had to go to emergency with chest pain. And I got hospitalized. So now the trip to China has to go on without me.

What is it all then. Yes, this is the view from the hospital room I was in for two nights.

And now to the best of it all, they say I do not have heart decease and there should be no danger for cardiac arrest for me, which is always what you fear when it comes to pain in the chest.

Sure all that is good, I still have to cope with hypertension and high chlolesterol.

Village in morning light.

When was the last time someone said that they liked the winter? Well, I do. I like the winter, the Hong Kong winter that is. a Maybe it is more autumn than winter just now. Maybe the winter is in January and February, and then I can say that I really don't like it.

But now should be winter. We have then end of November and the weather is gorgeous.

Like this from our village in the morning, when I am out at the road, waiting for a bus or a lift to work.

Room With a View. Vol.4.

Another day, another view. My attendance at the workshop on the 25 th floor ended yesterday, so this morning it was back to the good old view from my own house. It is also towards the water, but slightly different looking at the surrounding houses.

As shown, the weather started from its absolute best side this Sunday. Nice, warm and dry. Like the best of the Northern European summer, and we are at the end of November.

This is the absolute best time of the year to live and be in Hong Kong.

A Room With a View. Vol.3

Saturday morning. Same room same view. Same same but different. A bit. Later it will look different again. Depending on the sky above Hong Kong.

Room With a View. Vol.2

The same view 3 hours later.

A Room With a View.

Good morning world. This morning I went the opposite way than usual when I go to work, and now I have found myself somewhere at Hong Kong island, in the 25th floor of a building. I had a little walk around on the floor and found a room with this view at Victoria harbour.

Half a dozen cutie points or more?

Our little village has got a quite big family of village cats. You meet them in the morning and the evening, either sleeping in the plant pots or playing catch me if you can with each other or their own tail.

Growing up on a farm in a wee hamlet in Denmark, we always had cats around and I cannot resist cats, so I always carry a bag of cat treats in my bag, to feed them if they are around.

The family who has them, or in which shed they were born, are going to desex them, I've been told, and that is good, otherwise we could soon have a problem with too many of them around.

This morning I found these two kittens sleeping together under a little tree in a plant pot.

Cute,

A different perspective.

It is not always you get to chose your own perspective, is it. The way you look at things may vary but how often do one get to spend time enjoying a perspective that is commonly unused.

This weekend I had such a possibility. I got to spend time and watch from a place that is normally not used as a viewpoint, not even a place where people come. I am at my working place but are sitting on the top of an exit door from our gym. A kind of "not" space. It is a space yet, a kind of a platform, but a platform without any purpose, other than to be the roof over an exit.

Why am I sitting here right now? Good question.

At this weekend we are hosting an international volleyball tournament and we are filming all games to make them accessible for people from the schools that have travelled here from many different places.

So this "not" space hs become a camera plat form and does in fact offer quite a good view to one of the. courts.

Urban + Jungle, Urban Jungle

From high above Shatin, the 10.000 Buddhas temple. To get up there you possible has to manage 10.000 steps as well. Today there was a monkey raid on the offerings at the temple. A herd of monkeys managed to stir up the calmness a bit, to both joy and distress for all of the visitors.

Train trip to Tai O.

No you cannot do that, but you can take the train to Tung Chung and then a bus all the way to the far west of Lantau island, and there visit this very fascinating place. It is still a part of Hong Kong, yet so far away from the glittery and shiny facades in Central and TST. Tai O is one of the biggest stilts villages in Asia.

Brother @ Buddha

Saturday, mega train travel day, and bus and later even a ferry. First stop was big Buddha at Ngong Ping. Thought we were gonna ride the cable car as well but we gave up as the line there was about 45 mins of waiting. Instead it became a bus ride over the mountains of Lantau island. Winding roads and an engine on a mission. The bus managed the hills and we managed the 251 steps up to the big Buddha and the fine view from there.

Friday morning in Macau.

First image could be from the series called "Hotel Views".
This from Best Western, Taipa. The hotel is not really anything to write home about, just some kind of box where you put stuff and sleep. Next two pictures could be from the series: "Digital devices killed social interaction, yet connected people". Henrik is still kind of old fashioned and looking through the book shelf's at the wee Cuppa Coffee place in Macau.

To be tourist in Macau.

It has been a long day with a lot of travelling. One minibus, two trains, one ferry, another bus and then the good old tired legs. Anyway. Now it is Macau, and Macau seen through the camera.

Mathildes panorama

Mathilde went out for a walk on her own one day. None of us older ones felt like it as it was the day after Henriks birthday, so we were either too tired or we were hung over.
Anyway, Mathilde went for a walk to find some chips, as she said. As I heard about this, I imagined that she just went down the road towards Sai Kung, as it would have been the most sensible thing to do, but no, she went in the opposite direction and got herself all the way to Ma On Shan.

Tillykke med fødselsdagen.

For første gang i Hong Kong, Henrik holder fødselsdag.

2000 and something kilometer south west of home...

This place has some similarities with my home town, and again then not. It is an Asian World City, it is safe and diverse, and rich, but is not as tall as Hong Kong.
Tall in the meaning of the houses and the mountains. Here there is much more space and the city is spreading out horizontal because it can. At home in Hong Kong the city is also expanding, but vertically. Up and up. On this picture below, you can see a crane that has tipped over. It is at one of the many building sites you can see here all the time, and this particularly one happens to be just next to the building where I've been for the last couple of days,. I didn't see it happening though, and in fact I was told that it happened about 3 weeks ago.

I am in Singapore on a 4 day trip and participating at a educational workshop, Learning 2.013.

Have got a lot new stuff to put into my brain and at this moment I am just chilling out in the library waiting for the last session and the final reception and some social networking. After that maybe another we visit to iconic Raffles Hotel and their famous "Singapore Sling".
