It was in 1977. I was 15 and went to the disco events in different youth clubs and at school parties, and we all went crazy when the DJ's put on this record; "Black Betty" performed by a band called 'Ram Jam". Here again I enjoy the fantastic 70ties video -or TV- aesthetics with a load of transitions.
As it always is with good songs; they get covered by others and even this first version from 1977 by Ram Jam is a cover from an old recording from 1933 recorded in a Texas prison.
The grand old crooner Mr. Jones also had his hands on this song and has transferred the song into a real groovy dance tune, and as always, his voice does a real good job.
More equal -and hard core rock- to the Ram Jam version from 77, is the cover made by the Australian band "Spiderbait".

Hi, Jørgen, das folgende gehört nicht zum Thema, aber ich habe gerade folgendes gelesen: "In Hong Kong a woman cheated by her husband is allowed to kill him, but only with bare hands, use of weapons is not permitted. As for her husband’s mistress, the wife is allowed to kill her by any means." (Quelle: http://english.pravda.ru/main/18/90/361/12434_sex.html)
Stimmt das? Du bist ja immerhin vor Ort, also Fachmann.
