Like a trip to the end of the world!

This week has been the outlaying island visiting week. After visiting Lamma island on Monday, we then went to Lantau island on Wednesday. This time it was not to go to the International Airport -which is on Lantau- but to go to visit the south western of the island and more specific the Fishing village of Tai O, which is the most western settlement in Hong Kong. To reach that you can either take a ferry from Central to the village of Mui Wo and then a bus along the south side of the island. We forgot our book at home and then we mistakenly took a boat to Discovery bay and thought we could get a bus from there to Mui Wo. Pustekuchen -like they say in Germany when you are heavily mistaken- we had to take a bus from Discovery bay to the new town of Tung Chung at the airport, and then from there with a bus over the mountains to the south side of the island and towards Tai O. The ride was amazing and ended on a small part time single track road up the mountain with the old bus struggling it's way up and around the sharp corners to go downhill again. Nearly an hour we spent in the bumping bus on our way over hills and through valleys before we finally got out on the pier of Tai O and from then we were like in another world.Crossing the first bridge to enter the fishing village, reminded me about Amsterdam with it's bridges, but then every comparison ended and we found an entire settlement built mainly on stilts along narrow channels with pedestrian walkways between the small houses and huts. Everywhere you were followed by this very characteristic smell of dried sea creatures what is the main goods from the villages and therefore was offered from nearly every little shop or stall along the way.You can even get the coat of a Shark if you feel like it! Here you'll have some more impressions of this rather big stilt village on the western coast of Lantau island. Also here you'll depend on the air condition in the heat of the summer, and I can't stop thinking about how the smell must be here in the summer not even to mention the Mosquito's.After a nice seafood lunch in one of the restaurants we headed back to the bus and this time we got the right one and went along the south coast towards Mui Wo on the east coast and the ferry back to Central on Hong Kong island.
Mui Wo - Silver Mine bay- turned out to be a very interesting place and worth a visit later on. It was very quit though very busy and had some nice restaurants and Bars, so we stayed some hours walking around the beach and ended up in the China Bear bar at the harbor waiting for the ferry.And in fact we could have been sitting there for hours looking out at the bay and seeing the ferries come and go, heading to various destinations and trying to cope with the fact that Hong Kong just have so much to offer it's visitors in terms of different experiences and impressions, from here you can have everything you want, you just have to have the time to find and do it.

Lamma Island - one of the worlds last hippie resorts?

Like everyone knows, Hong Kong consist of a peninsular and a number of islands. The biggest is Lantau island and on the second place you will find Hong Kong island. The third biggest is Lamma island and what makes Lamma island so much awkward than the two others. Well Hong Kong island is what people regards as the real Hong Kong. England could have kept it after 1997, but anyone knew that the island couldn't survive without the New territories and the other islands around, and those parts was the ones which was included in the treaty with China. England decided to give back everything, also Hong Kong island which is now one of the busiest places on earth regarding finance, trading and construction. The biggest island of Hong Kong is Lantau island where the new big international airport is hosted and also where Disney land Hong Kong is placed together with the big Buddha. Both Hong Kong and Lantau islands are extrem busy and overthrown with settlements and highways.
Lamma island as the third biggest, is nothing of that kind. Not a single car, nor a bus or any kind of public traffic is running on that island, the only transport you will find there is your own feets, bicycles and their on self made TRAKTORS.That doesn't mean that Lamma island is not busy, not at all, Lamma island is in fact very busy just in a different way to the rest of Hong Kong. There is a ferry from Central and from Kowloon arriving very 30 minutes with hundreds of passengers through the day to the two main settlements on the island; Yung Shue Wan and Sok Kwu Wan. A hike called a family trail link those two settlements and through the day you see maybe some thousand people crossing the island and find rest and pleasure in frequenting the many seafood restaurants and bars placed in those villages. And they are kind of special and hippie like because they are so remote, like the last leftovers from a past area of time. In Yung Shue Wan for instant, you'll find the "Bookwurm Cafe", which is an organic vegetarian cafe and restaurant with a great selection in various vegetarian dishes.Sitting there outside this cafe watching people pass by on the narrow street, you feel like being at a music festival somewhere. Everybody seems so calm and relaxed cos there is nothing else to do than wandering around and pop in at the next cafe or pub on the way. Maybe that's why you seem to join so many leftovers from the sixties and seventies who might still feel comfortably there and for sure can to find clothes from then in the shops on Lamma island.
Like nearly everywhere in Hong Kong, you will find a lot of dogs on Lamma island and most of them walks free around in the settlements waiting for asome nice tourist who will tak pleasure of their company while they are on the island, and maybe take them to dinner, which means leave them the rests. Other dogs must be put in the stress of the demanding beauty ideals letting them have a public haircut.Lamma island is for everyone visiting Hong Kong worth a visit because it is so different to the rest of Hong Kong's many impression.

ST. Pauli hat mal wieder gewonnen!!!!

Dann war es doch (und endlich) wider so weit; der FC. ST. Pauli gewinnt mal wieder ein spiel und kriegt auf einmal so viele punkte wie vorher in drei Wochen, und das laesst sogar auch einen von den Buddhas im Tempel der 10.000 Buddhas im Jubel ausbrechen.Amsonsten gibt es ja nicht viel freude am Fussball himmel ausser der neue seite vom besten Dresdner Fussball club; der 1. Traktor-Trotzdem. Deswegen hier nochmal einen Link.
In Deutschland ist die 1. Liga unspannend wie lange nie mehr, in Italien, Spanien wie England sind wieder die ueblichen verdaechtigen vorne und machen es unter sich aus, obwohl es in England doch eine gewisse spannung herscht und morgen auch wieder richtungs hinweisende spiele stattfindet. Da kann man ja nur hoffen das FC Arsenal, nach 4 Unentschiedene in folge, es wie der ST. Pauli macht , und endlich mal wieder gewinnt. Am sonnsten wird es auch da so langweilich wie in Deutschland.Also Morgen tippen; Liverpool und Arsenal - und natuerlich 1. Traktor Trotzdem im Alaunpark zu Dresden.

Goodfriday- Karfreitag-Langfredag

Some happy girls at Happy Valley and not so happy fish and birds in Mong Kok.Yes it is easter and it's a Holiday, and we're in Holiday and what have we been doing?
Well the German influence on this site might disappear again a little bit, coz the main language around here is again the English language.
Well Easter Holiday and what have we been doing? Not much is the simple answer. We have not booked any exiting travel because Catriona needs a new Passport and our visas for China has expired. But not only did she need a new passport, she also needed to change her surname coz she got married one year ago, and not only in her passport but also in her Hong Kong identity card. The passport was not so big a deal, just remember that you are not allowed to smile on the Photos -and those who knows Catriona also knows that that nearly impossible. The identity cards though is another case, we had that in August when we first came here. We have to go to some outskirt of Sha Tin called Fo Tan. Here you have to enter an out moded shopping mall at 8 am to queue up with a still growing number of applicants, waiting for the immigration office to open at 9 am and hope for an appointment, then you wait again for several hours for the appointment and then you could be lucky. Because it is an out skirt, it is not really something to see there so you are just stuck. Fortunately there are some small Chinese breakfast places there, with very nice and cheap Chinese Breakfast. BUT they got the worst coffee you could ever imagine, it's even worst than the coffee you could get in the Czech Republic 10 years ago. So we spend two Mornings there, and for us it was something coz we have to travel nearly one hour to get there, and the first morning we came to late, the quota was filled and we had to come again the next day, even earlier.
Then there was our friends here from the US, and we went with them to Lan Kwai Fong and to the night races in Happy Valley before they left for Hanoi on Thursday morning. Catriona didn't go with Karl, Rudi and I when they were here but now she went and it turned out that she was very capable of the betting system and we had some fun and some small winnings.Experts studying the Race schedule at Happy Valley Racecourse what has turned out to be one of the best pubs in Hong Kong with cheap beer and lots of people and fun. If you visit Hong Kong, you must go there just for the atmosphere.
Stuck here in Hong Kong we had time to go out to see some of the things we haven't seen so far like the flower market, the goldfish market and the birds market. Like nearly all markets they are placed in Mong Kok and runs through several streets. The flower market is beauty full and over takes even the one in Amsterdam. The goldfish market and the birds market are also impressive but for my point of view also very depressing so I don't really want to put any Photos on display here, if you visit Hong Kong you can judge for yourself, but here you have some Koi's and a Parrot.The next days we are going to explore Lamma island, where they only have tractors, and we are going to Macau. St. Patricks Day

Heute vor 1 Jahr gab es in Schnurz dieses ereignis;Der nationale feiertag von Ireland wird weltweit von allen Irren gefeiert, auch hier im Hong Kong und wir koennen zwischen mehrere ereignisse waehlen. Und weil es jetzt Osterferien ist koennten wir auch lange bleiben, wenn wir lust haetten. Aber mal sehen. Osterferien zu haben ist angenehm und weil das Wetter seit mehreren wochen so richtig angenem ist, freuen wir uns richtig auf 2 ruhige wochen. Und was ist dann besser als ein kuehles lokales Bier und die Zeitung auf der Dachteresse zu geniessen.Hier ist es der South China Morning Post, und natuerlich haben die auch die ausschreitungen in Tibet als Haupt Geschichte.
Uebrigens gibts es wieder besuch hier in Honkers, diesmal nicht aus Dresden und Deutschland, nein mal wieder aus dem USA und wieder eine ehemaligen Kollegin von Catriona, Bob und Yvonne aus Dresden International School (so irgendeinen beszug auf Dresden gibt es schon) Rachel ist mal mit ihre Mutter und eine Freundin zubesuch bevor es dann nach Hanoi geht. Also haben wir wieder einige leute Honkers zu zeigen.Hier waren die Mal im Tin Hau Tempel in Sai Kung, nachher wollten die aber unbedingt Bier haben, und weil es ja Amerikaner sind, haben wir den dann zur Antonys gefuehrt. Kann sein das es ein bisschen Exoterisch ist jetzt, aber Rudi und Karl kennt sich aus.
Es scheint als das letzte Bier Raetsel fuer Europaer zu schwierig sei, weil es sich um ein lokales bier sich handelt, sprich Chinesisch. Wem aber alle posts gelesen haben und die bilder angeschaut haben findet schon die loesung.

Schon zum 2ten mal heute, aber ich bin grade darauf aufmærksam geworden, das es sich wieder lohnt, sich beim www.traktor-trotzdem.de; ein zu loggen, da passiert wieder etwas. Auch lohnens wert ist die neue einfaelle von Frank Nagel; Frank informiert.

Alles klar!!!

Alles klar sagt man ja wenn man etwas verstanden hat. Bei dem Raetsel um Rudis hinterlassene Stiefeln ist immer noch nicht alles klar, und langsam denke ich das er mich verarscht habe und seine Botten doch mit nachhause genommen hat, oder selbst zum Muehleimer gebracht hat. Aber wenn nicht, dann berichte ich doch noch darueber.
Also damit ist noch nicht alles klar. Ich habe schon laenger probleme gehabt beim Lesen. Es schien so als meine arme nicht mehr lang genug waren um das Buch oder die Zeitung so zu halten so das ich es lesen koennte. "Ich brauche eine Brille! Quatsch, ich bin doch nur ein bisschen muede" Aber dann war ich ja eigentlich immer muede. Einen abend war ich mit Yvonne Stearns und Christy Lau ins Teater gegangen und nach her wollten wir einen kleinigkeit essen, und wieder das gleiche; mein arm war kaum langgenug um die Speisekarte lesen zu koennen. Yvonne fragte dann ob ich nicht ihre Leserbrille probieren wollte. "Ach, øhh warum nicht!" Und ploetzlich war alles wieder klar und deutlich. Es war irgend wie ein tolles gefuehl zu wissen das buchstaben deutlich und klar schwarz auf weiss auftrat. Also sind wir zum Optiker gegangen und einen Text gemacht, und jetzt habe ich dann auch eine Lesebrille und wieder spass beim Lesen im Bett, weil ich nicht mehr die Fuesse zur hilfe braucht. Damit ist jetzt alles klar!!!

Wie ein Raetsel scheint es auch so sein wenn man sich auf neue Systeme und Programme fuer den Computer einstellen sollen, weil irgend wie war es frueher alles besser!!!

Im "Schnurz" gibts jetzt China Schnaps!

Tag 1 nach Rudi und Karl. Es ist wieder so ruhig hier. Nach 8 Uhr wird nicht mehr nach Kaffee geschrien, nicht mehr listen mit allerlei aufgaben gemacht, in unseren Kuehlschrank gibts es jetzt langsam wieder platz fuer etwas anderes als exotische chinesischen Biersorten und keiner Studiert die neu erworbene elektronischen Gadgets. Rudi un Karl beim Bus vor dem Abfahrt in Tai Wan Village.

Gestern sind die beiden wieder in richtung "Schnurz" gefahren und ich denke das Heute Abend im Schnurz vieles zu erzaehlen und zu bestaunen wird, eins ist aber sicher; wenn ich in Dresden waere, wurde ich auf jedem fall hingehen, vielleicht gefaellt euch ja der Eidechsen Schnaps aus China. Und ihr koennt ruhig sein; die sind echt und keine billigen kopien, weil sowas gibt es nur hier!!!Es gibt noch viel aufzuholen von deren besuch hier, weil wie ihr vielleicht auch bemaerkt haben, sind nicht hier jeden tag etwas neues erschien, dafuer gab es zu wenig zeit. Hong Kong ist sehr gross und hat viel zu bieten.Karl und Rudi beim Bier mitten im gewuezel von Tempel Street night market.

Am letzten Tag sind wir nach der Grass Insel -Tap Mun Chau- gefahren um eine ganz anderen und sehr ruhigen seite von Hong Kong zu kennen. die Insel liegt im Nordosten der New Territories und da gibts werder Autos noch Wolkenkratzer aber viel ruhe und getrocknete Mehresfruechte.Rudi macht werbung fuer "Schnurz" bei den einheimischen im Nudel Imbiss auf Tap Mun, trinkt doch lokales Bier.Wo ist Karl? Auf tap Mun gibt nicht viel, ausser Wasser, Natur und einen sehr schøn gelegenen Fussball Platz.Karl spricht mit den Wellen der Zivilisation, wahrend die einheimischen die komischen Gweilo's beobachten...
Das Bier Raetsel:

Rudi hat mir auch einen Raetsel hinterlegt; er hat gleich seine Stiefeln hier gelassen, aber nicht verraten wo. Jetzt verstehe ich auch wie er alle seine einkaufe in seinen sehr kleinen Koffer (siehe Bild oben) unterbringen koennte, weil seine Stiefeln, denke ich, habe wohl mehr als einen drittel platzt in anspruch genommen. Jetzt muss ich die aber suchen, was ja wohl auch nicht so schwirig sein kann, wenn ich bloss nach dem geruch gehe. Aber jetzt dann zum Heutigen Bier Raetsel; welche Bier sorte verbirgt sich im folgendes Bild?Wenn ihr das erraten koennt, dann wie immer einen Kommentar abgeben. Bis jetzt im Quiz liegt ein gewisser "Muecke" vorne mit 2 richtigen und als nummer 2 einen "Ivo".

Auswaerts Spiel

Gross war die erwartung als wir uns auf dem weg machten um endlich mal wieder Internationalen Spitzen Fussball zu erleben. Im Hong Kong Stadium war LA Galaxy mit ihrem unuebertroffene Star Ensamble zur Gast, um die wohl eher durchschnittlichen kickern aus Hongkers es mal zu zeigen, wie attraktives und dynamisches Total Fussball anno 2008 gefeiert werden. Es musste doch auch so sein, weil normaler weise bezahlt man hier 60 Hk$ fuer 2 spiele. Heute waren die preise dann auf 200 fuer die billigsten, bis zum 980 Hk$ erhoeht, und fuer nur einen Spiel. Aber was macht das schon wenn Beckham mal ins Stadion kommt, und tatseachlich er war da, der Beckham und gleich mehrere auf einmal. Hier dirigiert er vom Zuschauerblock Die Hymne am Anfang. Und hier holt er die Hot Dogs und Burgers fuer die Halbzeitspause.
Auf dem Spielfeld Plaetscherte es so dahin eine leichte Tendenz besser die Hong Kong Boys!!!
In der Pause das Pflichtbier musste aber in Cola/Becher umgefuellt werden da auf den Raengen schlichte Alk/Sperre herrschte!!!
Anpfiff zur 2. Haelfte natuerlich wieder mit Gekreische bei jedem Ballkontakt von David!! Endlich mal ein Tor und uns wurde waermer ums Herz!!! Es war die Hongkie Boys die wieder mal ihre Ueberlegenheit ausspielen lies, und diesmal dann auch den Ball ueber die linie schiebten. Beckham war bedient und entsetzt: "Wieso laden die uns eigentlich ein, wenn die uns sowie so nicht gewinnen laesst?".
Tor und Tor Elfmeter Beckham und nach 90 Minuten 2 zu 2 Nun gute Stimmung beim Elfmeterschiessen!! Sieg der Hong Kong Boys Jubel und los!!!
Auf direkt in die naechste Futterbude und Karl konnte endlich in einen kraeftigen Froschschenkel beissen!!!
Frisch gestaerkt ging es nun in das Getuemmel zur temple street zum Nachtmarkt natuerlich
vorher noch ein San miguel vom suessem China Girl eiskalt serviert !!!
Nun heisst es Kaufen Kaufen kaufen feilschen feilschen feilschen bis alles erschlafft angefangen vom Portmonee!!!
Wird noch speater aktualisiert, jetzt geht das hochladen von Bildern net so gut, wird aber auch kommen, keine sorge, ihr verpasst nichts von hier.

Macau - war ma super gau!

Jørgen haben wir gleich zu hause gelassen weil ihm irgend einen virus den magen versaut haette, oder war es wegen das 1. Hefeweizen Bier in ueber ein halbes jahr, den wir gestern in irgendeiner Kneipe mit den Deutsch klingenden Nahmen: "Brecht", und mit Popart Portraits von ehemaligen Spitzenpolitikern an der wand, getrunken haben.Da nun unser Reiseleiter schwaechelte sind wir alleine los das grosse Geld zu machen mit
dicken Dollarzeichen in den Augen!!! Also wieder diese Tippel Tappel Tour mit minibus
Metro umsteigen Treppe Hoch und Runter bis zur Faehre nach Macau!!
Ausreise aus Hongkong und nach einer Stunde fahrt Einreise in China sprich Macau diese ehemals portugiesische Hochburg!!! Spielcasinos und Gluecksritter ueberall!!! Nach einer
Staerkung ging es hinein in die Satansbunker auf der Suche nach einem Roulettetisch!!!
Kurzes beobachten spielen und verlieren !!!
Weiter durch Macau gepilgert immer nach Schnaeppschen schauend und bis zur ruina the pauls kathetrale!!!
Karl in einen von den vielen: "Es steht mir bis zum kragen - Oma slips Laeden"
Hoffentlich war das kein Windei !!! Weiter ging es im Schweisgalopp durch paar Casinos
Automatenspiel den goldenen Baum gesehen und per Bus zur Faehre und ab nach Hongkong!!
In Macau werden die Hotelzimmer sofort abkassiert falls die Taschen vom Spielteufel geleert
werden!!!!

Karl wurde beim verlassen von Macau immer ungespraechiger!!! Wer loest das

Neuer Tag neue Action und los ging es in dreier Gruppe zum Hongkong Stadion um noch
Tickets fuer das Fussballereigniss des Jahres zu erwerben!!! Hong kong freizeitfussbaeller gegen Beckham und die LA Galaxy.
Darum herrschte auch kein Andrang an den Kassenschaltern!!! Weiter ging es zum Sony center um Ivos Wunschliste abzuarbeiten!!! Dazwischen kaffee und andere diverse Getraenke!!! Mit der Klapperstrassenbahn durch die metropole zur Rolltreppe in die Huegel!!!
Den Tag beendeten wir mit Pizza und Bier klar und Live das Spiel Manchester gegen Portsmoth
